Technology Marketing Veteran to Lead EFSS and Collaboration Solution Push
PALO ALTO, California – October 29, 2015 – AeroFS, the leading provider of secure file sync and share and collaboration solutions for the enterprise, today announced the appointment of Jeff Harrell as vice president of marketing. Bringing more than 15 years of experience leading teams to build and market technology products for businesses of all sizes, Jeff will lead the company’s marketing push for its enterprise-class file sharing and synchronization solutions.
“This position with AeroFS offers the kind of challenge I thrive on and allows me to combine many of my skills and experiences in cloud applications and security software marketing to ramp growth and profitability,” said Jeff Harrell. “I look forward to working closely with this exceptional executive team to develop and execute on strategies for advancing the unique AeroFS EFSS and collaboration solutions that keep company data private while enabling users to work more efficiently.”
Prior to joining AeroFS, Jeff was vice president of product marketing for Norse Corporation, the leader in live attack intelligence, where he built awareness, adoption, share and revenue for three product portfolios.
In 1995, as a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Jeff co-founded a company that developed the first commercial ad-blocking program. The company was acquired a year later by Pretty Good Privacy (PGP), where Jeff became a product manager. After McAfee acquired PGP, he became product manager of the entire PGP product line.
After McAfee, Jeff became director of product management for Emusic.com, which went public and was later acquired by Universal Music Group (UMG). He then returned to the security industry, first at Qualys, a leading provider of cloud-based vulnerability management solutions, as a product marketing manager and then as director of product marketing for nCircle, a provider of vulnerability management, configuration auditing and security performance management solutions.
Jeff is a contributing author of “Threat Intelligence for Dummies” (Wiley, 2015), served five years as a director for the Support for Families of Children with Disabilities non-profit organization and founded an iPhone app for Napa and Sonoma wine tasting.
“We are very pleased to bring Jeff into the AeroFS family as vice president of marketing, and look forward to his contribution as we move forward in this challenging and highly competitive marketplace,” said Yuri Sagalov, CEO and founder at AeroFS. “Jeff’s entrepreneurial background and experience in various marketing positions with fast-moving startups will be invaluable as we develop and expand our EFSS and collaboration offerings.”
AeroFS delivers highly secure, enterprise-class file sharing and synchronization solutions that enable enterprises to better control and secure their data and increase collaboration among users. Like Dropbox and other online file-sharing offerings, AeroFS allows users to simply drag and drop files into a folder to sync and share them with colleagues and external partners. Unlike those offerings, however, AeroFS is deployed on the enterprise’s own infrastructure, and so enterprise data always stays under company and IT control. Files are shared directly between users’ devices, and enterprise data never resides on AeroFS servers. The company has 50,000 customers across 2000 organizations and is funded by blue-chip investors, including Avalon Ventures, Andreessen-Horowitz, Y Combinator and others.
